How many times over the years have I excitedly vowed to start blogging regularly, only to give up after a couple of days? At least 500? Embarassingly enough, I was reminded of this particular blog by Facebook’s “On This Day” feature. I bragged about blogging 4 days in a row on 1/4/11… only to quit 8 days later. Oops! Seven years later, I’ve been thinking about blogging again, so let’s give this another shot.
I have two main goals for 2018 — get outside more, and give people the benefit of the doubt. But of course, I have a jillion smaller goals too, all in the name of self improvement. 🙂 Here are a few that I’d like to focus on in this blog:
- Try new recipes from my cookbooks. I have way too many cookbooks, so it’s time to either start using them, or get rid of them.
- Make more stuff. Yes, I want to make more homemade food, but I also want to try some crafts. I have a sewing machine, an embroidery kit, and a burning desire to make my own cocktail ingredients. Time to get started.
- Track my spending. Pretty simple. Now that Jim and I own a house, we have so many more random expenses. I want to control my extracurricular spending so that we have money for emergencies, house improvements, etc.
I think that’s a good place to start. Let’s see if I can break my previous streak of 12 days blogging! 🙂
Song of the Day:
The classic New Year’s song. This is a particularly nice cover, from The “Holidays Rule” album put out by Starbucks’ record label, which is one of my favorite Christmas albums.
